Anti-Aging Treatments
for Mature Skin in Los Angeles
Skin after 50 changes in four specific ways — expression lines, lost volume, laxity, and sun damage. Each one has a treatment that works. This page shows you which is which, and what it costs at Mirror Mirror Med Spa.
Aging Skin Isn't One Problem. It's Four.
Most anti-aging advice is written for 35-year-olds. It talks about "fine lines" and "prevention." Skin over 50 is dealing with something different: the structure underneath is changing. Women can lose up to 30 percent of their skin's collagen in the first five years after menopause, then roughly 2 percent more every year. Facial fat pads shrink. Elastin weakens. Decades of sun exposure surface as pigment and texture.
That is why one treatment rarely does the job. Botox softens the lines you make when you frown, but it cannot lift a jowl. Filler restores a hollow cheek, but it does nothing for crepey neck skin. A resurfacing laser evens out sun damage, but it will not rebuild collagen deep in the dermis. Good results after 50 come from matching each change to the treatment built for it — usually two or three, sequenced sensibly, at doses that keep you looking like yourself.
At Mirror Mirror Med Spa in Los Angeles, our providers build that plan with you at a complimentary consultation. Below is the same framework we use in the room.

What Changes After 50 — and What Treats It
Four changes, four categories of treatment. Most clients over 50 need two of these; some need three. Almost nobody needs all four at once.
Expression Lines
Forehead creases, frown lines, and crow's feet that started as movement lines and have begun to stay put at rest. Driven by decades of muscle activity, not by volume loss.
Volume Loss
Flattened cheeks, hollow temples, deeper nose-to-mouth folds, and a face that looks "tired" even when rested. Caused by shrinking fat pads and collagen depletion underneath the skin.
Laxity & Sagging
Early jowls, a softening jawline, loose neck skin, and crepey texture. The skin's collagen and elastin scaffold has weakened, so it no longer snaps back.
Texture & Pigment
Sun spots, uneven tone, rough texture, enlarged pores, and dullness — the accumulated surface record of Los Angeles sunshine. Lives in the top layers of the skin.
Daily broad-spectrum SPF 30+ and a retinoid remain the foundation under every one of these — no in-office treatment holds up without them.
Six Treatments That Work on Skin Over 50
Current Mirror Mirror Med Spa pricing for each. Every one is performed by a licensed medical provider in our Westwood clinic.

Botox & Xeomin
Relaxes the muscles behind forehead lines, frown lines, and crow's feet. On mature skin the goal is softening, not freezing — conservative dosing that keeps your expressions. Results in 3 to 14 days, lasting 3 to 4 months.

Sculptra
A poly-L-lactic acid biostimulator that prompts your skin to rebuild its own collagen. Results develop gradually over 3 to 6 months and can last up to 25 months. The closest thing to addressing the cause of volume loss rather than the symptom.

Dermal Fillers
Hyaluronic acid gels that restore cheek, temple, and mid-face volume on the spot, and soften nose-to-mouth and marionette folds. Results are immediate and last 6 months to 2 years depending on the product.

Morpheus8
Radiofrequency microneedling that heats the deeper layers to contract tissue and trigger new collagen and elastin. Works well for early-to-moderate jowls, loose neck skin, and crepey texture. Usually 2 to 3 sessions, 4 to 6 weeks apart.

Forma
Bipolar radiofrequency that gently heats the dermis to firm the jawline, neck, and cheeks with no needles and no recovery. The maintenance workhorse for mature skin — best in a series of six, then periodic touch-ups.

CoolPeel CO2 & Lumecca IPL
CoolPeel resurfaces the top layer to smooth texture, refine pores, and soften fine lines with only a few days of redness. Lumecca IPL clears sun spots, redness, and uneven tone. Often paired: IPL for color, CoolPeel for texture.

Botox, Fillers, or Sculptra — Which Do You Actually Need?
They are not interchangeable. Each does one thing well, and after 50 the honest answer is often "two of them."
Your Lines Move
Your main concern is the upper face — forehead, between the brows, around the eyes — and the lines deepen when you make an expression. Botox blocks the nerve signal so the muscle relaxes and the skin stops creasing.
- Best for forehead, frown lines, crow's feet
- Results in 3–14 days, last 3–4 months
- Lowest risk profile of the three
- Won't lift sagging or fill a hollow
Your Face Looks Hollow at Rest
You notice flattened cheeks, loss of definition, under-eye hollows, or deep folds that are still there when your face is completely still. Filler puts structure back where fat pads have shrunk — instantly.
- Best for cheeks, temples, folds, lips
- Immediate result, lasts 6 months–2 years
- Also lifts by re-supporting the mid-face
- Higher skill dependence — choose your injector carefully
You Want to Rebuild, Not Just Fill
The volume loss is diffuse rather than in one spot, the skin has thinned, and you would rather invest in a slower result that lasts longer. Sculptra stimulates your own collagen across the whole treated area.
- Best for global volume loss, thinning skin
- Builds over 3–6 months, lasts up to 25 months
- Requires 2–3 sessions and diligent massage
- The one most often chosen over 60
What Usually Makes Sense at Each Stage
Age is a starting point, not a prescription. These are the patterns we see most often in Los Angeles clients — your plan comes from your skin, not your birthday.
Hold the Line
Botox for expression lines, a first round of Sculptra or filler for early mid-face flattening, and IPL to clear sun damage before it deepens. Forma as maintenance.
Rebuild Structure
Sculptra becomes the anchor. Morpheus8 for jowls and neck laxity, conservative Botox, and CoolPeel to resurface texture. Combination plans outperform single treatments here.
Refine, Don't Chase
Lower doses, longer intervals. Filler for specific hollows, Forma for comfort-level tightening, light resurfacing for tone. The goal is rested and healthy, not "done."
Comfort and Radiance
Hydration-first. Gentle IPL for pigment, HydraFacial for glow, small amounts of Botox where it still helps. There is no age at which the right treatment stops being appropriate.

From Consultation to a Plan You Can Keep Up
Mature-skin plans are built in stages so you can see each result before adding the next.
Consultation
A provider assesses your skin against the four changes above — movement lines, volume, laxity, surface — and asks what bothers you most. You leave with a written plan and pricing, not a sales pitch.
Foundation First
We start with the treatment that addresses your primary concern, usually one injectable or one energy treatment, at a conservative dose. Mature skin responds more slowly, so we give it time.
Layer
Once the first result is visible — 2 to 12 weeks depending on the treatment — we add the second piece. Sculptra plus Morpheus8, or Botox plus filler, in the order that lets each one do its job.
Maintain
Botox every 3–4 months, Forma or IPL a few times a year, Sculptra or filler refreshed as it fades. Membership pricing makes the maintenance schedule sustainable.
Frequently Asked Questions
What clients over 50 ask us most about anti-aging treatments at Mirror Mirror Med Spa in Los Angeles.
There isn't one — and any clinic that tells you otherwise is selling a device. Mature skin changes in four ways at once (expression lines, volume loss, laxity, and surface damage), and each responds to a different category of treatment. The foundation is daily SPF 30+ and a retinoid. On top of that, the most effective plan for most clients over 50 combines an injectable for volume (Sculptra or filler), an energy treatment for laxity (Morpheus8 or Forma), and Botox for expression lines. Which two or three you need depends on what your skin is actually doing, which is what a consultation determines.
The treatments that produce the most visible change address structure, not surface: restoring mid-face and cheek volume with filler or Sculptra, and lifting the jawline and neck with radiofrequency microneedling like Morpheus8. Those two together change the shape of the face, which is what people read as "younger." Botox and resurfacing add polish on top. A single dramatic procedure tends to look like a procedure; a combination done conservatively over a few months looks like you slept well for a decade.
Ask yourself one question: do the lines you dislike appear when you move your face, or are they there when your face is completely at rest? Lines that come with movement — forehead, frown lines, crow's feet — are Botox territory. Hollowing, flattened cheeks, and folds that stay put at rest are volume problems, which means filler or Sculptra. After 50 most people have both, which is why a combination is so common: Botox for the upper face, filler or Sculptra for the mid and lower face. Botox at Mirror Mirror is $14 per unit; fillers run $650–$900 per syringe depending on the product.
No. Sculptra is used routinely in clients in their 60s and beyond, and it is often the better choice at that age because it addresses the root cause of volume loss — collagen and fat-pad depletion — rather than just filling a spot. The adjustment for older skin is pace: mature skin builds new collagen more slowly, so results take a few extra weeks, and the approach is conservative and multi-session rather than one aggressive correction. Diligent massage after treatment matters more, too. Sculptra at Mirror Mirror starts at $699.
Yes, for mild-to-moderate laxity. Morpheus8 drives radiofrequency heat through fine needles into the deeper layers, which contracts existing tissue immediately and stimulates new collagen and elastin over the following three months. It works well for early jowls, loose neck skin, crepey texture, and fine lines, and it is safe on all skin tones. What it cannot do is replace a surgical facelift for severe sagging — energy devices tighten, they don't remove excess skin. Most clients need 2 to 3 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart; expect a few days of redness and mild swelling after each.
No. Neither accelerates the skin's aging process, and if you stop, your face gradually returns to how it would have aged naturally — not worse. Two caveats are real: very long-term Botox can cause minor thinning of a muscle that hasn't moved in years, and repeatedly over-filling with large volumes can stretch skin so it looks slightly lax once the filler dissolves. Both are avoided by conservative dosing, which is the whole philosophy for mature skin. Ten years of sensible Botox typically leaves you with fewer etched-in lines than you would otherwise have, not more.
Partly, yes. You can't undo the rapid drop that comes with declining estrogen — up to 30 percent of skin collagen in the first five years — but you can stimulate new production and protect what's left. In the clinic, that means biostimulators like Sculptra and energy treatments like Morpheus8 and Forma, all of which provoke the skin to make its own collagen. At home, retinoids, vitamin C, peptides, and daily sunscreen protect the gains. Hormone therapy, where appropriate and prescribed by your physician, also measurably slows collagen loss. The combination of the two is what moves the needle.
For most people over 60, a combination outperforms any single device: a collagen stimulator (Sculptra) to rebuild the structure underneath, paired with radiofrequency tightening (Morpheus8 for more laxity, Forma for milder laxity or maintenance) to firm the surface. Filler can be added for specific hollows. Where sagging is severe, with hanging skin along the jaw or neck, non-surgical options will improve things but a surgical lift remains the only way to remove excess skin — and we will tell you that honestly at your consultation rather than sell you a series that can't get you there.
