Exosome Therapy
in Los Angeles
Billions of cell-signaling vesicles applied into freshly opened micro-channels — so Morpheus8 and CoolPeel results arrive faster, heal in half the time, and last longer. The regenerative layer on top of the treatments you already trust.
Messengers, Not Cells
Exosomes are extracellular vesicles — nano-sized packets that cells use to send instructions to one another. The ones used in aesthetic medicine are harvested and standardized from stem-cell sources, then purified so that what remains is the signal without any live cells: growth factors, peptides, and RNA that tell skin cells to repair, rebuild collagen and elastin, and calm inflammation.
On intact skin they do little. Applied immediately after a treatment that opens micro-channels — RF microneedling, CO2 resurfacing — they penetrate uniformly and deliver a far denser regenerative payload than any serum. The skin heals faster, the inflammation that causes redness and downtime drops, and the collagen response the device triggered is amplified.
At Mirror Mirror Med Spa in Los Angeles, exosome therapy is offered as an add-on to Morpheus8 and CoolPeel, and as a standalone exosome facial with microneedling. Pricing and the right protocol for your skin are discussed at consultation.

The Exosome Timeline
The vesicles themselves clear from the skin within days. The instructions they leave behind keep working for months.
Recovery
Mild redness and tightness, similar to a sunburn. Keep the skin clean and product-free for 6–8 hours so the exosomes fully absorb. No makeup, no actives, no heavy exercise for 48 hours.
The Glow
Redness resolves and the first visible change appears — hydration, radiance, and a calmer, more even tone as inflammation drops well ahead of the untreated timeline.
Remodeling
New collagen and elastin build progressively. Texture smooths, fine lines soften, acne scars begin to fade, and firmness improves as the structural work the device started is amplified.
Peak & Maintain
Maximum improvement lands at 3–6 months. Results hold for 6 months to 2 years depending on age and lifestyle; a maintenance session every 6–12 months sustains them.
Daily broad-spectrum SPF 30+ protects the new collagen — sun exposure is the fastest way to undo a regenerative treatment.
Exosomes Work Best on Top of a Treatment
Three ways exosome therapy is delivered at Mirror Mirror. Each one opens the skin first so the exosomes can reach the dermis.

Morpheus8 + Exosomes
RF microneedling tightens and remodels; exosomes applied into the channels cut the redness and swelling roughly in half and push the collagen response further. The pairing for laxity, acne scars, texture, and fine lines.

CoolPeel + Exosomes
CO2 resurfacing removes the damaged surface layer; exosomes speed re-epithelialization so the 2–5 day peel window shortens and the skin comes back brighter. Best for sun damage, pores, and uneven tone.

Exosome Facial
Standard microneedling to open the skin, followed by a full exosome application — no radiofrequency, no laser. The lightest entry point: 24–48 hours of downtime, a visible glow in days, and a good maintenance option between device treatments.
Exosome pricing is set at consultation based on the treatment it accompanies. Members receive 3–5% off through the Membership & Loyalty Program; financing is available through Cherry.
Exosomes vs PRP
Both are regenerative boosters applied after microneedling. They come from very different places and behave differently in the skin.
Standardized, Concentrated, Consistent
Lab-isolated vesicles with a fixed, high concentration of growth factors and signaling molecules. No blood draw. The same potency in every vial regardless of your age, diet, or health that week.
- Billions of vesicles per application — a denser signal than PRP
- Faster, more pronounced results in fewer sessions
- No live cells; no dependence on your own platelet quality
- Higher cost; newer, so the long-term literature is still growing
Your Own Blood, Spun Down
A sample of your blood is centrifuged to concentrate platelets and growth factors, then applied to the skin. Fully autologous and long established — but its strength depends entirely on you.
- Potency varies with age, health, and lifestyle
- Usually needs more sessions to match exosome results
- Requires a blood draw at every visit
- Lower cost; widely available; decades of use
Exosomes Are the Next Step Up
For skin, exosomes are generally the stronger choice because they bypass the biggest variable in PRP — you. If you are over 40, have had inconsistent PRP results, or want the most out of a Morpheus8 or CoolPeel session, exosomes are what we recommend. PRP remains a reasonable, lower-cost option for younger clients with good platelet quality.
- Choose exosomes for speed, consistency, and device pairing
- Choose PRP for budget or a preference for fully autologous treatment
What "the Dark Side of Exosomes" Actually Means
Search that phrase and you'll find it everywhere. Here is what it refers to, and how we handle it.
The Concern
Exosome products are not yet FDA-regulated as a standardized drug class, so purity, concentration, and processing vary between manufacturers. A poorly sourced product could theoretically carry contamination or trigger an immune reaction.
Topical, Not Injected
In aesthetic use, exosomes are applied to the skin surface after microneedling — not injected into the body. That is a fundamentally lower-risk application than the systemic uses that generate most of the alarming headlines.
Sourcing
We use commercially manufactured, cell-free exosome products from established aesthetic suppliers with documented processing and sterility testing — not compounded or unbranded material. Ask us which product; we will tell you.
Who Should Skip It
Active skin infection, uncontrolled autoimmune disease, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and a history of keloid scarring are the usual reasons we hold off. Your provider screens for all of them before any treatment.
What a Session Looks Like
About 60–90 minutes when paired with Morpheus8; under an hour for a standalone exosome facial.
Consult & Numb
Your provider confirms candidacy, chooses the base treatment, and applies topical numbing for 20–30 minutes.
Open the Skin
Morpheus8, CoolPeel, or standard microneedling creates the controlled micro-channels the exosomes need to reach the dermis.
Apply
The exosome solution is applied across the treated area immediately, while the channels are open, and massaged in. Nothing is rinsed.
Leave It
Skin stays clean and product-free for 6–8 hours (overnight is ideal). SPF from day two. Glow by day three to five.
Frequently Asked Questions
What clients ask us most about exosome therapy at Mirror Mirror Med Spa in Los Angeles.
Yes, when they are delivered into the skin rather than onto it. Clinical and in-practice observation consistently shows that exosomes applied after microneedling or resurfacing accelerate healing, reduce post-treatment redness and inflammation, improve texture, and soften fine lines by delivering cell-signaling proteins that drive collagen and elastin production. On intact skin — as a cream, with nothing opening the surface — the effect is minimal, which is why we only offer them paired with a treatment that creates micro-channels.
The exosomes themselves are cleared from the skin within a few days; the biological result — new collagen, remodeled texture, improved firmness — typically lasts 6 months to 2 years depending on your age, sun exposure, and skincare. First changes appear within 2 to 6 weeks, structural improvement builds over 2 to 4 months, and peak results land around 3 to 6 months. Because aging continues, a maintenance session every 6 to 12 months keeps results current.
If you want less downtime and a stronger result from the session you are already paying for, yes. Exosomes typically cut the redness and swelling after Morpheus8 roughly in half, and the growth factors amplify the collagen response so texture, firmness, and scar improvement go further than the device alone. The trade-off is cost — exosomes are more expensive than a standard post-treatment serum or PRP. For a single maintenance session it may not be necessary; for a corrective series on scars or laxity, it usually is.
For most skin goals, exosomes. They deliver a higher, standardized concentration of growth factors and more predictable signaling than PRP, so results tend to be faster and require fewer sessions. PRP's strength — that it comes from your own blood — is also its weakness: potency rises and falls with your age, diet, and health, and it needs a blood draw every visit. PRP remains a reasonable lower-cost option, particularly for younger clients. Exosomes are the better choice when you want consistency and the most from a device treatment.
Minimal — typically 24 to 48 hours of mild redness and tightness, similar to a light sunburn. Keep the skin clean and product-free for at least 6 to 8 hours after treatment so the exosomes absorb fully; no makeup, harsh actives, or other facial treatments for 24 to 72 hours; and no heavy exercise, saunas, or direct sun for 48 hours. Most clients notice a visible glow by day two to five. Paired with Morpheus8 or CoolPeel, the device's own downtime applies but is noticeably shorter than without exosomes.
They do different jobs. A procedural exosome treatment produces faster and more dramatic improvement in wrinkles and pigmentation than retinol, without the dryness and peeling of the retinoid adjustment period. But retinol is a daily, at-home, long-term collagen stimulator — and it protects and extends the results of any in-office treatment. The right answer is both: exosomes with a device for the step-change, a retinoid and daily SPF to hold onto it.
Exosome pricing depends on the treatment it accompanies and the size of the treated area, so it is quoted at your consultation rather than listed as a flat fee. The base treatments are priced on their own pages — Morpheus8 is $835 per session or $2,499 for three. Membership clients receive 3–5% off all treatments, and financing through Cherry is available for any plan. Book a consultation and we will put the full number in writing before anything is scheduled.
